The first of 5 Vent Shaft support structures were successfully installed on the 30th March.  These structures are being installed within the Catesby Tunnel development and they are required to create a bung at the bottom of each vent shafts. It was a fundamental requirement of the client that the test track is protected from water ingress and possible debris falling onto the track from the vent shafts above.

The top of the structures have been waterproofed by MR Site Services; Geobear will then inject a structural foam around a 100mm polo shaped void created within the structure, this will create the watertight tight seal to the vent shaft wall and our structure.

This has been a challenging project, to say the least, and very much a team effort in both the design and construction of the structures, but also the sequencing of install and waterproofing them, it has taken over 8 months to get to this stage!

This is another great example of the very best that Hawkins has to offer and when departments collaborate to create a workable solution. Special mention has to go to Dave Elliot and James Morrison, who have been instrumental in the successful delivery of this project.
