Hawkins raise £9,900 for Katharine House Hospice
Hawkins Team took part in the Banbury Triathlon on 15 May to raise both awareness and funds for our local hospice, Katharine House.
For many of the team, this was their first ever triathlon, and just as they do everyday, they took the challenge in their stride and gave it their all. The team undertook a 400/750m swim, 20k bike ride and a 5k run. The hospice offers vital care and support to those going through such heart-breaking times – a triathlon is nothing in comparison.
Mike Hawkins supported the event by generously match funding all the entrance fees for the team, and said this about the fundraising event:
“The support and care Katharine House Hospice provides is priceless. Many of the Hawkins team, and their family and friends, have had first-hand experience of Katharine House, who’s incredible team have helped them through difficult circumstances. We are all absolutely blown away by the amount raised and the generosity shown by so many – a true testament of the work and dedication of Katharine House. I am extremely proud of the Hawkins team for taking on such a challenge.”
Everyone really enjoyed the triathlon. The atmosphere, the camaraderie, the support on the course and everyone’s generosity has been phenomenal! Words cannot describe how grateful the team and Katharine House are by the support they’ve received and the staggering amount raised.
Steph Lawless, Head of Fundraising at Katharine House, said:
“We are overwhelmed by the support that the staff at Hawkins Group have given the hospice. To undertake such a gruelling challenge and raise such a fantastic amount of money is a huge achievement and we are incredibly thankful. The funds raised will help support our patients and their families at a time when they need it most. Our hospice simply wouldn’t exist without the support from our local community and businesses and we are extremely grateful for all the support we receive.”
£9,900 will really help to make every moment matter.
